    Lake Michigan Aircraft Carriers  

    Interesting part of Naval history.  We could not have won WWII if not for the benefits of the Great Lakes and their related industrial production centers ... steel, etc.

    However, there was another benefit of the lakes that is often overlooked. Japan quickly lost the war because, among many other things, its Navy could not replace its carrier pilot losses but we could.

    Good morning all,

    I bear tidings and good wishes from CDR Rich Simpson and his lovely wife Lori.  Went to visit them this past week at PAXNAS.  Rich has settled into his new Command and works with a great group of people.  They have a beautiful home near the base.

    They do miss some parts of Michigan...not necessarily the cold and snow...but certainly the people.

    Our plan was to take advantage of the "southern" climate and play some golf.  Unfortunately, the rain on Thursday and Friday put a damper on that plan and then it was only 40 degrees on ..

    1. This site is currently limited to 300 members (at this time due to financial constraints)

    2. While some of our members invest time in using the "broadcast" capability to let fellow FONs know about relevant "NAVY" stuff "going on" in our area of ops.............some of us don't...

    3. There are some "members' who have not visited the site for over two years....!!!

    4. All members of the the FONMI site who have NOT logged on to the system within the past year will be DELETED the last day of February (29 Feb 2012)...

    5. This will weed out the disinterested ..
