    Veterans Day Parade

It's the 100th Anniversary of the end of World War I. Originally known as Armistice Day; changed to Veterans Day some years ago. Lt. Col Jefferson has agreed to be our Grand Marshall for this year's parade. The Tuskegee Airmen will be supplying a Ford Mustang decorated with a Red Tail fighter that they flew in World War 2. Lt Col Jefferson flew with the Tuskegee Airmen in WW II. Huron Metro Parks will be providing their float again along with the horses. A Banner on one side will denote this would be the 100th Birthday for Tuskegee Airman Coleman A. Young and the A Banner on the other side will denote this is the 100th Centennial of WW1 and the start of the celebration of Veterans Day. This makes Lt. Col Jefferson's participation in our parade just that more remarkable. He served with Coleman Young and is 97 years old. WOW! Dick Chatman In addition; LTC Charles Kettles, Medal of Honor recipient for service in US Army, Vietnam, will be participating as a ''Veteran of Honor''. Rich Luterman (CAPT, USAF) FOX2 News Head Meteorologist will emcee the pre-parade ceremonies. The 338th military Band will render the National Anthem, ''Taps'', and possibly a medley of the Service Branches songs. The Southfield A&T High School Band, as well as the Cass Technical High School Band, and Detroit's Edison High School Bands will participate. Ya gotta have bands in a parade. Registration can be done, on-line thru our website at www.detroitveteransdayparade.org Click on ''Registration''. Please check out the other info on the web-site, and register as soon as possibly convenient. As noted by Dick Chatman, our theme this year is to honor the centennial of Armistice/Veterans Day. World War I ended at 11:11 AM on 11/11/1918. We plan to have a WW I Re-enactors color guard lead us off. Feel free to contact me, e-mail, or phone Dick, at (248) 569-0824.
